RUSH

What is Rush?

Rush is a time when you can come to the house to see what a fraternity is all about. Look online on the calendar and ask guys around the house when rush events are so that you know when to come on over and hang out. Rush events normally take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays and are a lot of fun. Previous events have included bags, hooters wings, bbq, football games, paint balling, bungie runs, mechanical bull riding, and more! Each and every event is free for you and there is no pressure, we are trying to get to know you and impress you so you want to join our house. There is no obligation at all to pledge a house if you come out to rush, just come see what we are all about so you can make your own opinion and decision. You only get to be in college once, make the most of it!

Why should I join phi kappa psi?

Meeting People:

The Illinois Delta Chapter of Phi Kappa Psi consists of more than 140 brothers. With the incredible diversity among all of its members, anyone who joins is guaranteed to meet countless other people who share common interests with them.

Brotherhood:

To many people “brotherhood” does not sound too exciting, but it is really a lot more powerful than you may think. If you ever need anything–whether it’s borrowing someone’s car, help with your homework, someone to lend you money, someone to talk to, or just people to hang out with–your brotherhood will always be there to help you out.

Grades and Scholarship:

Contrary to popular stereotypes, not all fraternity brothers are drunk, lazy, and unmotivated. On the contrary, Phi Kappa Psi stresses scholarship just as much as a brotherhood and having a good time. We have one of the top twenty GPAs on the UIUC campus–out of more than 55 fraternities! Our members have a higher average GPA than the IFC average and the All-Men’s average for the entire UIUC campus! In other words, your chances of academic success are much better in our fraternity than in most other housing alternatives on campus. On top of that, the diversity of members ensures that no matter what your major, you will find other brothers in the house with similar majors. For instance, if you are an engineer, you might be concerned about the course workload at the 4th-best engineering school in the country. If this is the case, consider the benefits of living in a house with 25 other engineers, most of whom have above-average GPAs.

Moreover, you can be eligible for the Freshman Scholarship. Find more info here.

Job Experience and Connections:

Joining Phi Kappa Psi fraternity is an excellent place to learn and fine-tune many skills that you will use in the working world. The fraternity is a breathing, living organization very much like most companies you will one day work for. Choosing to be active within Phi Kappa Psi is excellent leadership experience and the responsibilities you handle while serving an office look excellent on your resumé. Also, the fraternity provides you with opportunities to network with other brothers and alumni as you search for summer internships or your ultimate career destination.

Leadership Development:

Phi Kappa Psi provides you with opportunities to enhance your leadership development. Several programs have been developed to help you grow into leadership roles in the fraternity and in the community. Phi Kappa Psi sponsors educational programs in Cabo San Lucas, as well as offering the chance to attend a variety of leadership conferences throughout the United States. These conferences include developing leaders from Phi Psi chapters around the country and feature guest speakers who have achieved great success in their businesses. These speakers include CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, university presidents, and political leaders.

Social:

Phi Kappa Psi has an extensive social calendar every semester that includes everything from exchanges with sororities, barn dances, house parties, bar crawls, and many other events. Although you might not realize it, having a good time is one of the most important aspects of the college experience. Being a member of a fraternity on a large college campus is the easiest way to connect with other people and develop lifelong relationships.

It’s Fun!

Phi Kappa Psi is not all about schoolwork and brotherhood, but it’s also about having good times. And there’s no better way to have a good time than to live with 50 other fun-loving guys for a few semesters. Even if you’re not living in the chapter house, you’ll always have somewhere to go with dozens of people you know where there is always something fun to do.
